Becoming one of the first international brazing quality assurance system ISO 22688 certified enterprises outside of Europe

Warm congratulations to two Suzhou enterprises for becoming the first batch of international brazing quality assurance system ISO 22688 certified enterprises outside of Europe!

On May 20-21, 2025, an expert group consisting of Mr. Thomas Lessmann, a senior auditor from the German Welding Society Duisburg Welding Training and Research Institute (DVS SLV Duisburg), and Mr. Chen Dajun, a senior audit expert from the WTI Harbin Welding Technology Training Center, conducted an international brazing quality assurance system ISO 22688 enterprise certification audit for Suzhou Sanchuan Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd. and Suzhou Senguang Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd.

During the two-day audit, the expert group conducted a detailed and professional review of the brazing quality assurance system management system documents, brazing process specifications and evaluation, brazing operator qualification evaluation, brazing production site, and brazing responsible personnel professional assessment of the two enterprises based on ISO 22688 and related international standards. Based on the two enterprises' very sufficient certification preparation, good on-site brazing quality control, and the comprehensive professional knowledge and experience of brazing responsible personnel, the expert group unanimously agreed that the certification audit passed smoothly and provided valuable opinions and suggestions for further improvement, which was highly recognized by the two certified enterprises!

This brazing international quality assurance system certification audit is the first of its kind in China and even outside of Europe, and is another important historical moment in the international certification of welding enterprises in China. The German Welding Society Duisburg Welding Research Institute (DVS SLV Duisburg) and the China WTI Sino German International Group Machinery Industry Harbin Welding Technology Training Center have been cooperating in the field of welding since 1984. They introduced the most advanced welding personnel training system in China at that time, and then jointly carried out DIN18800-7 (now EN 1090-2) welding enterprise certification in 1999, EN 729 (now IS0 3834) welding enterprise international certification in 2000, and DIN 6700-2 (now EN15085-2) welding enterprise international certification in 2002. This is a milestone in the international certification of welding enterprises in China.

WTI continues to pay attention to the needs of the equipment manufacturing industry, closely following the international development pace in quality systems and personnel qualification training for welding and related processes. It continuously introduces advanced systems and combines them with China's national conditions for digestion, absorption, and innovation, such as the international brazing quality assurance system, anti-corrosion quality personnel training system, bolt connection quality personnel training system, etc.

These two brazing certification companies in Suzhou learned during the series of reports on the 40th anniversary of WTI-SLV Sino German cooperation in 2024 that WTI was about to introduce an international brazing quality assurance system from Germany. Based on their own needs and the aim of constantly striving for excellence and innovation, they immediately decided to become one of the first domestic enterprises to implement it.

After analyzing the relevant standards and requirements of the system, WTI arranged an enterprise certification consulting team to provide systematic training, centralized consultation, and on-site consultation for the two enterprises on enterprise certification. They also cooperated with the enterprises throughout the process to provide guidance on document preparation, on-site organization, and other aspects. They provided comprehensive services such as brazing process evaluation and brazing operator examination, allowing the enterprises to truly understand the international brazing quality assurance system and related standard requirements, and be able to apply them to actual quality control processes, achieving good results in audits and project operations.

During the audit period, Professor Chen Yu, Director of the Harbin Welding Technology Training Center of WTI Sino German International Group Machinery Industry, who was also the overall leader in introducing the system from Germany to China, rushed to the audit site to personally witness this historic moment.

Brazing has a wide range of applications in China, such as automobiles, new energy, power, electronics, power plants, aviation, aerospace, rail transit, air-cooled heat exchange, and so on. For many years, the domestic brazing industry has been struggling with the lack of a unified quality assurance system. Brazing peers have unanimously called for a unified brazing quality assurance system standard similar to fusion welding to improve the welding quality management level of the brazing industry.
